Sometimes you have weeks where so much happens. And then you have weeks like this one.
The biggest topic around the world was probably Switzerland being knocked out of the Football World Cup. To be honest though, football has never really been my sport. When I see how much acting sometimes goes on out on the pitch, it just doesn't grab me.
Maybe that's something you're not supposed to say because so many people love football. There must be something special about it. What I do like is the atmosphere it creates. An entire country gets behind one team, everyone is cheering for the same goal, and for a short moment people come together. I think that's pretty cool.
If I have the choice, I'd still rather watch Wimbledon, rugby or, of course, triathlon. Whether it's a short-course race or an Ironman, if there's a race on, I'm watching. And with the Tour de France happening at the moment as well, there's certainly no shortage of great sport to follow.
Routine is part of the process
Apart from that, my training week looked pretty much like every other week at the moment.
Training is very repetitive. That's exactly what you want for performance, but it doesn't always make writing a weekly blog easy. At some point, every session starts to look the same and there aren't many big stories to tell.
There was one small change this week though.
Because the filtration system at Noosa's 50-metre pool is being replaced, the pool will be closed for several months. So on Thursday I drove about 40 minutes to Maroochydore for my swim session.
And honestly, it was worth it.
For the first time in quite a while, I got to train in a proper 50-metre pool again. The water was also much nicer than in Noosa, where the pool has become almost a little too warm recently.
After swimming, Emma and I went to Sunshine Social for lunch. Since we were already there, we had to make the most of it.

I can definitely recommend the café. Whether it's the bowls or the burgers, everything we've tried so far has been excellent. Another great place we've discovered around Noosa.
Friday means fresh fish
Every Friday, a fisherman comes to Noosa.
Don't ask me what his actual name is. To me, he'll always just be "the fisherman."
He sells fresh fish straight from the boats, and we'd heard from so many people how good the quality was. So we decided it was finally time to give it a try.
That evening, the fish went straight onto the barbecue.
And yes... everyone was right.
Really fresh fish simply tastes different. It was another great little discovery we've made here in Noosa.
Small improvements make the biggest difference
And just like that, another week comes to an end.
A shorter blog this time, without boring you with training details that repeat themselves week after week. Because that's what life looks like at the moment: routine, patience and putting together one solid session after another.
There is one thing that's still on my personal to-do list though.
I want to become much more comfortable and aerodynamic on my time trial bike. At the moment I can still feel that I'm not sitting quite as relaxed as I'd like to. I'm convinced there are still a few "free" kilometres per hour waiting to be found.
The big question is simply where to start and which adjustments will make the biggest difference.
That's something I'll work on over the next few weeks, one step at a time.
Until then, I hope you all have a great week.
Talk to you soon.
